Terry Flangan has work in all aspects of arboriculture from a “groundie” on up through climber, foreman, sales, and manager to staring an arboricultural consulting company in 2000. Teragan & Associates, Inc.

One of the services that my firm offers is appraising the value of trees and landscape plants. In the world of appraisal, I have found that appraising the value of plants, trees or otherwise can be a very daunting task where many will not agree with your assessment of the value. In the appraisal process, one must realize the degree of subjectivity, the knowledge of the local laws and beyond, and the situation that has occurred that can guide the best calculation to determine the values of subject trees and/or plants. There are many ways to calculate the value of a tree and/or plant and one must consider all possible processes to be able to pick the correct method.

Terry will use the 10th Edition of the Guide for Plant Appraisal as the basis for the workshop and guide the participants to successfully complete appraisals starting with the proper definition of the assignment followed by the selection of the best methodology for determining appraised value.

Please realize that this workshop is NOT the course to confer the Tree and Plant Appraisal Qualification offered by the American Society of Consulting Arborists.

Instructor: Terry Flanagan is a Board Certified Master Arborist as well as a Municipal Specialist and Tree Worker Specialist in Tree Climbing and Aerial Lift. He is also Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. Terry was one of the first to be BCMA certified and chaired the panel of experts that helped create the Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. He has been an instructor of the program since the beginning and serves as a mentor instructor for new instructors coming into the program. He also taught the Arboriculture class at Clackamas Community College for many years up until he assisted in creating a full degree program for Arboriculture at the college.
